PARC PUPS Behavior Analysis
Ani Webb, M.S. BCBA -Behavior Analysis and Ethology. I analyze dog behavior and help families understand the “why” behind their dogs actions. By combining evidence based treatments, and an empathetic approach, I guide people in supporting the body, mind, and emotions of their non-human friends.
Ethology is the scientific study of animal behavior in natural and domestic contexts. My approach helps you understand your pet’s communication, instincts, and motivations — leading to effective, humane behavior change.
SERVICES
Behavior Assessment
separation anxiety
maladaptive attention seeking
repetitive behavior
resource guarding
fear and anxiety
over-arousal “reactivity” or barking
I am not currently accepting clients whose dogs exhibit severe-focused aggression, but I can recommend excellent specialists in the area who are accepting bite cases.
Individualized Behavior Modification Plans/ Behavior Goals
Direct Services: I send you an assessment and observe your dog directly. I write a plan based on the results of the assessments and give you the plan. I teach your dog and I teach you to teach your dog using the plan. I observe you train your dog and give feedback to ensure you are confident with all of the steps of the plan. (most intensive)
Indirect Services: I send you an assessment, based on your self-reported responses, I give you a plan and teach you to teach your dog. I observe you teach your dog and give feedback to ensure you are confident with all of the steps of the plan. (medium intensive)
Consultation: On an intermittent basis based on your aspirations for your life with your dog, I create a skills based goal, and send you the steps to meet that goal. I observe you train your dog and give feedback to ensure you are confident with all the steps of the goal. (least intensive)
Collaboration
Veterinarians and Groomers: I will collaborate with your vet on comprehensive treatment plans when the cause of a behavior is medical and when assistive medications may be beneficial for the treatment of anxiety and fear related behaviors. I will also work with you to build a took kit of assent-based skills that you can use for grooming and vet visits, should those routine care procedures prove challenging.
Local Centers : In the New Bedford area you can look to MJ’s for center based training and group classes
Outdoor Groups: Across the south coast look for Outhounds Adventuring Academy for hikes and group walks
Age is not a barrier to learning new skills- As he aged, Echo began to lose his hearing and lost confidence while walking on certain surfaces. Due to his hearing loss Echo whined persistently, and I discovered he was desperately missing hearing praise from his owners. In the last 3 years of his life I taught him a button system to make specific requests, and receive positive praise from his owners again, in a modality that he could receive., each button had a vibration pattern that echo could feel though his paws and nose, including a pattern for “ who’s a good boy”.
